Ask HN: Best Computer Science Graduate Schools?
Now, three years later my legacy tech application (COBOL) is definitely feeling constraining and I’d like to hop technologies. However, the job market is tough without a computer science bachelor’s degree.
I’ve done a few MOOCs and certificate programs here and there, but found that beyond basic syntax they don’t teach the system-level thinking I’d want to build my own apps from scratch. I'd also like to build for cutting-edge tech, e.g. wearables like HoloLens.
What I’d really like is an advanced education in technology at the undergrad or graduate level. Any recommendations for graduate schools in-person or online? I’m based in the Chicago, IL area but would be willing to relocate for the right opportunity.
I’ve been advised to look at engineering schools because they’re more rigorous than liberal arts CS degrees, but can anyone confirm that?
