I'm sure some people enjoy slaving away to "change the world", but in the end, you will miss some of the most important events in your life and guys like Elon Musk will continue to get richer.

Releasing permanent batteries, or fuelless motors, or Stan Meyer tech would change the world.

Using government contacts to sell cheap minerals stolen from Afghanistan and having a loud public wank about it is not really what I would call changing the world. There is hardly anything unique about that.
