Ask HN: Do you have a favourite book about global economics?

Everyday some news item deeply disturbs me, i keep reading articles and try to grasp the implications, but am missing background knowledge to really understand the issues.

Does anyone here have a good tip for a book on global economics, with focus to finance and/or natural resources?

It would be nice to read up without having to fight through multiple books simultaneously. Thanks.
