What on earth is up with that signup Captcha?

So, I just tried to create an account here so I could help a friend who is attempting to make a submission unsuccessfully.

I guess I was in private browsing mode when I did, and holy smokes, that reCAPTCHA was insane. I attempted to solve it about 50 times, no dice. I tried the audio, and I burst out laughing when the audio option said "........MRRA....URRHMNM.... NR.... RRRRRMMAA".

I'm mostly posting this comment to do what I intended, checking if it's just my friend, or hacker news in general that is failing to post a new thread, but here's the moral of my story: don't open a Google reCAPTCHA from a private browser window (presumably because cookies are turned off), they seem to think you're a computer and make it literally impossible to solve. Or, conversely, do exactly that, and get yourself a good laugh in exchange for 10 minutes of wasted time.
