SnapDocs (YC W14) is hiring a product engineer with OCR experience

About us: In the last year, our clients have uploaded 150,000+ pdfs. They've had to tag and classify each one of these by hand. I bet we could help out with that....

About you: You've got experience with OCR. You know the types of data that you can extract and you know how to act on it. In the longer term, you're interested in joining a small team and owning full feature sets or eventually entire product lines.

More about us: We're addressing the entirely old school process of borrowing money to buy a house. Right now, the industry is driven by huge stacks of paper and casual handshakes. We believe that using contemporary design and data analysis, we can deliver something 10x better.

Or to put it another way, we do SaaS for non-technical users and we're growing fast (double-digit month-over-month). Everyday, clients call and email us to say that we're making them happy, and that feels great. We have solid penetration in one segment of the market. We’re looking to hire another core engineer to help us expand further.

The technical details: Our app is built in Ruby on Rails and we deploy to AWS. We have an agile team structure. Since we're so early, you'll be helping set the tone for our culture. If there's something you want to hack on, it's something you can hack on. Ideally, you'll have 3-5+ years engineering experience.

The practical details: We're in San Francisco in Union Square, near to BART and MUNI. We have a lovely office above an antique shop and this is an onsite position. We offer health insurance and generous vacation. Compensation will be salary plus meaningful equity. As an early engineer you'll be shaping this company.
