Disclaimer: I have posted the same news earlier today in a different thread here:

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9921447

But it got banned (?) after some time by a few people who claim that the news is bogus when they read the update without reading the comment underneath it. Ironically they also claim that I haven't read the story before posting it here. The thing is, I didn't really get aware of this fact by reading the news but instead by trying it out myself and searching something about it when I failed to do so. So in the end I suggest that the easiest way to check this is to try out yourself. I kindly hope that we could discuss the news itself instead of this incident. Do you think this is really a strategy about fighting with spam?

P.S. If you decide to give it a try you may want to use a disposable email address (e.g. http://10minutemail.com) and before you ask, verification step is not related to disposable emails, try it in a regular browser and tor browser and you will see.
