This is the only reason I have any experience with these apps. When MS sunset Money and compatibility started to get wonky, my in-laws were at a loss at what to do. We never did find an alternative. They do however have…
It is charming in that it has that mid 90s utility design. It is absolutely frustrating because it has that mid 90s utility design. I don't think I have seen any other utility hasnt really progressed on interface design…
This is boarder line a 'choose your own adventure' style thing. It is so stupid it had to be done!
I have seen efficiency figures vary from as low as 0.1% upwards of 10% but it seems difficult to quantify. My shoot from the hip intuitive thought is that the massive amount of plant matter it took to make petroleum…
I had not thought of that. That is probably very likely. They can keep their public mantra of "privacy" to keep people coming to them but without the burden of tech development. Higher ups like that equation. It is…
Can we just appreciate the 3rd grader humor of the name. Like a calculator app a friend made called the 'Crapulator'. It lived up to the name but not in the same fashion as the 'wrongulator'.
As an aside, immunotherapy is pretty neat stuff. My fathers bladder cancer is in remission thanks to it. Yes, there are still some issues being worked out (possibility to cause diabetes) but it is just neat to see in…
It has been said that "Publish or Perish" would make a good tomb stone epitaph for a lot of modern sciences. I speak to a lot of people in various science fields and generally they are some of the heaviest drinkers I…
It is also frustrating when a papers summary says one thing, you pay for the full thing only to see it is a complete opposite of the claims. Waste of time and money, bleh!
I suspect eventually Elon is going to sell Twitter to Tesla under the guise of combining their AI research. Cue Obama awarding Obama a medal meme. Just a shoot from the hip theory based on him stooping to new lows.
Thank you for actually advocating for the most rational and realistic response to this situation. While one cannot expect peace from this, it is better to be in open communication than to be left to create images of…
I always appreciate these stories about how very specific observations that most people would miss can give away far deeper details of the universe that many wouldn't even consider. Eratosthenes using shadows and…
Dick Bartolo one of the writers for Mad used to host The Giz Wiz on twit.tv. It was a daily review of all kinds of random gadgets that come up, it looked to be a life long fascination with those advertisements in the…
Complete opposite experience here, my grandad had a subscription to it! Not sure what happened to the decades of them because they were all gone by the time he passed.
I am so glad to see things like this happening again. Im not saying "bring back all the magazines!" But some of them had a real place in the format. The one thing I loved about the old tech mags was because of the…
That may be the case but this can be seen as 'Hate the game not the player'. Just because folks are in this position doesn't mean you should be complicit in its continuation as it stands. I mean I get it, you end up…
That's for that recap! (Pun intended!). I should have been more specific by being more vague. The game didn't need to be patched for the vast majority of its common use. I would be surprised if there are any games with…
This is why DOS games that supported 3DFX just talked directly to the GPU. They documented all the registers mapping for direct access. Didn't even need to install drivers. DOS was in its twilight years at that point,…
Similarly you could just stuff around on Bayonetta during load times. Useful on 360/Ps3/Wii U but once it came out of PC, SSD speed made that practically pointless.
Unfortunately, these businesses didn't get to the top by treating people ethically. Don't think they will start now.
Still better than training on the Reddit data.
An aside but this is why I was blown away by Mario Odyssey on the Switch. While it did get patches to add a few new games modes and bonuses, there was nothing done to fix anything broken with the title because there…
A few of the Playstation titles that made their way to PC do seem to have a little home field advantage on AMD chips, but not enough to sway people over to them.
I agree with you sentiment. That said there are two vague exceptions I can think of on this. The original iPhone but that was because its existence would have been leaked/semi announced once they tried to get it…
I get it, being mind blown in this industry is getting further apart with time. It is just that the industry is becoming mature, we have picked most of the low hanging fruit and now it is a case of refining the…
