I'm with you there. I'm on expensive plans with everyone because I run out of tokens and rotate/use the models that are best in their niche... CLI Model Pct Remaining Reset Date claude all models 15% 3d claude Fable 50%…
His short story "Understand" is just... amazing. It wasn't until I discovered I was on the spectrum that I realized why it clicked so much. >.< I'm masking all the time, running conversational simulations to anticipate…
Thanks! It was definitely a highlight working on such bleeding-edge technologies with crazy smart people. Pouring over custom PowerPC CPU Errata was divine. Oh, and we only had (if I recall) 1ms per frame on one core to…
Great video! Love the concepts discussed, and the tigerstyle mentioned by adityaathealye. This is such a hard problem. For Halo 4, I architected a system for our telemetry that that had to support subsecond roundtrip…
I always loved this question when I played the 'Why' game with my kids: They ask why, and I'd ELI5. Then they'd ask why, and the process continued until I could excitedly say "We don't know for sure!! We think it might…
I hear ya! One of my hobbies is to be a somewhat known stage & exotic dancer / dance instructor in VR using 5-11pt tracking (depending on my mood and production quality). The number of "features" that get in the way,…
I just don't see how the genie is put back in the bottle. Optimizations and new techniques are coming in at a breakneck pace, allowing for models that can run on consumer hardware.
Seems to me like the pathogen is just adapting to have a new transport mechanism? Rather than it decomposing or making use of microplastics. Rather than attaching to seaweed, it can also stick to microplastics and…
The metric of "hauling 40 Tesla Model S vehicles up every sixty minutes." is a strange one. A '93 Honda Accord would be divisible to the minute (60/hr). Or even 52lbs/second... Though I suppose those don't sound as…
I found the book Rama Revealed by Arthur C. Clarke and Gentry Lee to be an unbelievable and depressing outlook on the short sidedness of man's assault on limited resources. And then I was driving through Phoenix…
My first thought is that there may be something environmental... interfering with your voice. Something like someone watching a show in the evening, or turning on a fan when it's time for bed.
Specifically, the FancyZones utility. I was just showing this to a guest I was hosting and blowing their minds. You can setup multiple patterns per monitor depending on a given workflow, snap windows with shortcuts or…
Absolutely! I see a lot of people complain about twitter, but if you actively curate who you want to see and turn off recommendation posts it can be a very pleasant experience. There's loads of positive communities…
Tried this with "Long Tail." I'm excited for this tech... THIS is innovation. https://search.brave.com/goggles?q=long+tail&source=web&gogg...
My money is indeed on the environment. You'd want to know what that donor was eating, and try to replicate it.
No lie, I've done exactly this before. Something was coming up that'd wipe out my intestinal flora, and I'd been feeling extremely healthy lately. So I preserved a chilled sample of the 'good stuff.' Usually I'd have…
It's fascinating to me how many comments seem to be defending the workplace culture at SpaceX, and outright dismissing the letter in a hostile manner.

Along these lines is the venerable TRIBES Engine Networking Model whitepaper. It was so good, it was shipped as part of the XDK for a decade. I believe Bungie even leaned on it quite a bit when creating their networking…

Yup! I'd told them last year as the divorce was starting that I'd need to be promoted within 18 months, or I'd start to become bitter and perform less well... and I'd leave before that happened. Just put in for a GDC…
Please tell me you found better pastures! A place where you were compensated and appreciated. :) I've been at the current job for 10 years, receiving the highest level of performance review for all but the last year…
Oh, this is fascinating. Seven years ago I architected a true-realtime telemetry pipeline with end-to-end sequential guarantees (with roundtrip times <200ms excluding network latencies, and cloud processing times <20ms,…
Hmm? This timestamp is known to be local-time, used for measuring durations-between-events on a single session, and not used for cross-session reporting. Time would be compared from one event to the next. Cross-session…
