I’m sure writing their own ORM would have given them instantaneous insight into this issue and introduced no other challenges. Open source developers hate this one weird trick!

Unless you’re using Internet Explorer, every browser works on every site. I’ve never had Chrome installed even as a backup. Have yet to find a site that doesn’t work on Firefox.

E2ee services are the only sane hosted solution. I use sync.com and find it works as well as Dropbox. There are other ones but I haven’t tried them.
I won’t use a drive service that is not e2ee. My files are my own business. There are multiple alternatives out there like sync.com (no, I’m not affiliated with them). Disclaimer: I also don’t store copyrighted material.
How about the built in Firefox password manager? You can (optionally) sync across devices and set it as the password store in iOS (probably Android too).
Sync.com already exists and is e2ee. Why people keep using non e2ee services and get outraged when their data is misused I can’t understand.
Isn’t it .3 times (30%) faster? I think they meant to say 1.3x _as fast_ which is very different.
I’m sure there are many interpretations of the motivations behind this. Regardless, the resulting reduction in carbon emissions can only be a good thing.
Your math is based on net new users. But a lot of people are moving to Signal and dumping WhatsApp. So they impact is bigger.
