NFC on the phone. I thought it would revolutionise lots of things. Turns out it took 10 years longer than I expected and is just a "fun" feature for now.
I'm seeing diminished returns of my HN consultation. Also, the hive mind developed here is quite strong and sometimes you can predict the general sentiment of the comment thread. It's still a great source of news though.
I'm a complete financial idiot. As in, I only have money on a government-guaranteed fund in my bank. Where do I start to know more about this? I dont want it to stress me out though, Im not so risk adverse when it comes…
I think I'm going to stop reading any article about what it's like to run a company, until I actually create and run my next one. Does anyone feel like reading articles has reached a point of diminished returns?
How easy is it to plug to native Android API? Any way you can just use this engine as a View in your already existing Android native app? (like with LibGDX)
As a software developer in EU, sometimes I find it absurd that I'm only paid 2x as much as the average office drone for which the company would see no difference if their department disappeared tomorrow. The only way to…
I really enjoyed this article. Any news aggregator where I can find similar articles? (HN for marketing?)
I have 6-12 months saved up. I guess I could do part time but I feel like I have to go all-in on my app for it to be a success.
I worry about not being brave enough to quit my day job (developer) and develop the app that I KNOW would be successful if executed properly. Also, not being able to build a family later if I fail in my next venture.…

I thought of KEK40 as soon as I saw the title. On a side not, I'm interested in the potential of meme magic although It's completely esoteric and goes against hyper-rational HN spirit ;)
I'm surprised so many people are missing the satire here. Very funny article. In a modern world focused on the self, this is what you eventually get. Our lives are too comfortable.
After failing at taking my startup off the ground, I just started working for a "normal" company (read: startup that actually raised serious series A, has nice and lofty offices, a good tech team etc). I always have…

I'm still trying to figure out the ideal lifestyle. When you work remotely, it gets boring after a while not being able to socialize. When you have to go to work every day, it gets tiring commuting. I'm thinking the…
Unfortunately we're not there yet. It's doable if you negociate it with your local small-midsized company.
After having spent some time in SF in the whole "startup ecosysem", my dream is now to run a 100% boostrapped business, totally location-independant.
I for one am tired of the whole "startup culture", the term is over used. I'm starting to think startups are a meme pushed by the VC industry.
I'd be curious to know the difference between the 2, especially for a french citizen.
I agree as well. I find it bordeline cringey to see how other countries try to imitate "SV culture". it's one thing to be inspired by something, and no question we should all admire what SV has created. On the other…
I's also a cultural one, at least regarding the developers. The status of the developer is still considered lower as middle management. It's slowly changing though, as developers are becoming more and more respected.…
