I'm sure it's not nothing, but to what extent does it matter that Alphabet is headquartered in the US? Deepmind seems to still be based in Kings Cross - and London benefits.
I recall the state of Indiana was banning dedicated bus lanes. Many of the impositions come from the county and state level.
I agree excluding the HTML, CSS and Javascript bit. Lots of great engineers out there that don't ever deal in this bit of software.
Funny that you mention American bacon as having a good meat content as I've only ever seen streaky bacon in the states, which tends to be very fatty. I wouldn't even know where to buy back bacon in the midwest.

There is an order of magnitude between the population of Austin and NYC. Perhaps comparing Austin with a similar sized city, Columbus for example, would be a better comparison.
In some places, Kansas City for example, cost of living may make up for that 15k.
Almost everyone I work with in London has had a bike stolen (or a least a wheel or two), and everyone I know who owns a bike also has insurance. Not great evidence, but I'm not sure theft is any lower.

London has plenty of events for developers, you just get out and find them.
London is one of the most diverse cities in the world. Relatively speaking, almost every city in the world is less diverse.
The salads at Chipotle are also a good choice.
