I sure hope so! I love .net, but we won't use Mono for political reasons (which are now complicated because of Microsoft's acquisitions.) But until De Icaza is no longer involved, we will not use it.
Why don't you learn C# and then come back and see if you feel the same way. It's a MUCH better language and environment than Java.
