Yes, my team had a direct issue with this on Aurora Postgres, at least. This is PG9 but then kept happening all the way into PG12 until we got rid of all but like 5 roles. Above like 4000 roles we experienced a…
Pick up some oysters, for eating? If these oysters serve as a pre-filter for the plant, would you not want to eat them as these oysters would contain all sorts of pollution?
Blaming aftermarket parts for non related failures is very common for luxury brands especially German ones: Audi & Mercedes are biggest culprits. Some Audi dealers would void almost your entire power train warranty for…

Git's use of master has nothing to do with the master/slave idea. The word master been a word longer than it has been associated with slavery. Not every use of master is offensive/rooted in slavery/racism.
There is talk on the originating GitHub issue to make a list of repos/authors that still have master as a branch name as a way to shame them into compliance.
No it doesn’t. But what do I know running several clusters in production for a $100 million business? Please read up on the subject before arguing.
I’m not sure if I can even understand what you are talking about or why you said that. If you have pid,{name:’val’, others...}. And an index of name with a million John and one Jane. Good luck getting fast results.
Postgres has terrible indexing with json. It doesn’t keep statistics so simple queries sometimes take much longer than expected due to query planner not knowing much about the data.
The second I'm presented with a pop-up as the first thing on a website, I close out.
I guess its just anecdotes at this point, not data. But all my peers and friends from different schools, were solving quadratic equations in 4th grade in USSR/Russia. This was early 90's. I then studied in Canadian and…
If its something requested, the user can always re-request it. If it not something requested like news, use two different providers to send 2 messages. One the actual content, and then a minute later, a different…
I bought extended car warranty from a company and they subsequently exposed my VIN, name and email on a publicly shared DB by accident, and its still up. I don't want to report this to them directly. Anyone know if I…
I think its obvious he's talking about the fact that Firefox is unusable on MacOS (on scaled resolutions). And it seems Mozilla has no ability to fix this for a large portion of their potential clientele.
I don’t believe the 1040EZ exists anymore.
Do you require a scientific study for any fact? If you bothered to do any googling, or whatever Mozilla equivalent of google is - this is in the top 3 results.…
I think this is one of the standard options: https://docs.pact.io
JLS: https://docs.oracle.com/javase/specs/jls/se7/html/jls-15.htm... Otherwise, if the second and third operands have types that are convertible (§5.1.8) to numeric types, then there are several cases: ... binary…
If the entire C++ codebase I worked with was mostly C, my job would be so much easier. I think the 2000+ page C++ manual proves my point.
I know that point of view too - if you leave now, we would have to look very hard for a long time to replace you. We have many projects and you're the only one that knows X, however, we don't have the cash to offer you…
I am a junior dev without a ton of experience so correct me if I'm wrong, but I strongly disagree. Comments should explain "why" something was written. Wouldn't the function name indicate what you are doing (and…
There is no right answer to that problem.
The Russian is terrible too, reads like Google translate. They left in the "silver bullet" idiom, which makes zero sense in Russian.
While I do agree with you somewhat, I'm willing to give up to be called an engineer by others to stop all of these new engineering disciplines from appearing: political engineering, social engineering, market…
While it might make one feel better to call oneself an engineer (you're not, it is not one of the original engineering practices), a developer (I guess, is it any better though), guru, ninja, evangelist (rebranded…
