Because the US did not care that much of newly freed countries (imho they were just happy to have millions of talented,hard working immigrants). Older generation of pro USSR countries still does not have much sympathy…

I do not have to keep it in mind. I a visit Singapore very often and trust me a lot of them are not "singaporean born chinese" or even if they are they are chinese. Just richer chinese. Similar habits,language and so on…
