While working with Claude Code and Codex, I realized I didn't really need an IDE anymore. Keeping a heavy IDE open, waiting for it to load, and then opening yet another terminal tab just to run an agent was more overhead than it was worth.

It got worse with multiple agents — one terminal per agent, and my desktop turned into a mess of windows.

On top of that, with usage limits being what they are lately, a lot of people are buying multiple Codex and Claude Code accounts. Switching between them by hand every time you hit a limit is a real pain.

So I built AgentCodeGUI: run Claude Code and Codex directly, browse and edit files like an IDE, and manage multiple agents and accounts in one place. Register as many accounts as you want, switch between them in a click, and jump between Claude Code and Codex just as easily.

Chat

‧Start a new chat — or several at once — with the agent of your choice in whichever working directory you pick. Got a quick side question mid-session? Open another chat window with a gesture or Ctrl + Shift + N.

‧Track the sub-agents your agent spawns, along with the files they change. (Press ~ to open the panel.)

‧Add extra working directories and read or edit files inside them. Most languages are supported — TypeScript/JavaScript, C/C++, C#, Python, even Unreal's Verse — with hover info.

‧Every chat, including the extra ones, is saved in the left sidebar, so you can pick up right where you left off.

Agents

‧Switch models within Claude Code and Codex whenever you like.

‧Register both Codex and Claude Code accounts, then start a session with whichever one you want.

‧Configure MCP servers and Skills in Settings, and pick your subscription plan.

‧Claude Code Workflows are supported too, with the same power you'd get from Ultracode.

Quality of life
