I tried Asahi on my older M1 macbook and the battery life is still very bad. I am pretty experienced trying to dive into CPU schedulers and kernel settings, etc. to try and fix it, but I was unable to squeeze more than…
I don't see how it being Canadian is relevant. First off Canada is part of North America and North America is big geographically. We have similar car culture compared to USA. There are very large subsidies given to…
No because USA's central bank is raising rates as well. Only when the policies differ do the currencies move. So Yen seems to have been falling for awhile since their central bank lagged USA. It would probably be a poor…
We could let the market set interest rates but they would be much higher. Banks would be very unhappy since they have loaded up on the rock bottom rates. You'd see many banks go under similar to SV bank. This is a world…
It seems small, until you try to download it.
Not sure where the quote is from but inflation is still above the target of 2% (by traditional measures) so is that not considered high?
Sure! Salaries are what people use to exchange money for goods and services that these companies produce in theory. But the free money environment we've lived in the last decade seems to have primed companies to think…
Makes sense I wasn't thinking about the full on laundering aspects. But even so, if the real estate is used in laundering, it will eventually have to be sold to get back clean money. This should still run up prices at…
All sounds very plausible, but where are the effects of this? We should be seeing many people holding mortgages at HSBC not able to pay. Are there no public stats showing how many lack of payments being made to HSBC? Is…
The price of a bitcoin sets an upper bound on consumption of energy where the miner will be in a place that is no longer profitable since energy costs money. On top of this, miners have no upward way to influence the…
What I've found in reality is that machine learning is 99% data cleaning scripts and 1% the part you're talking about. I've also seen the heavy duty statistics people writing data cleaning python scripts which probably…
Is there a simple diagram app / site / etc. that uses this? I love the look.I'd love to diagram things using it. Love the fill types which could be great for accessibility.
I think you will find openexr surprisingly well supported across many platforms.
Maybe a counter point here, but I've doubled down on Firefox only, even at work. Things like hangouts and many other Goog services seem to have started working more at parity compared to Chromium at least I've found, in…
Your talk of xrun is giving me anxiety. When I was younger I dreamed of having a linux audio effects stack with cheap hardware on stage and xruns brought my dreams crashing down.
It may be using the streaming demo. The reason I know to answer your question is that I had modified the streaming demo myself for personal use before. I think there is bugs in the silence detection code (as of a few…
It waits for sufficient silence to determine when to stop recording the voice and send it to the model. There is other modes in the source as well and methods of setting the length of silences in order to chunk up and…
Explained better above. There are more irrational numbers, almost guaranteeing any number come across in nature is irrational. Interesting thought since I think one thing that makes irrational numbers is there is no…
I think I heard that all numbers in the real world are irrational. So that means most of math is not real, except of course the irrationals like pi :)
Quick google for France shows 1.83 births per woman vs USA's 1.64. So maybe there is a correlation.
I bet that none will wind up in Canada. The scenario here is being fired in USA, and the visa holder clearly want to be in USA, not Canada, otherwise they'd be in Canada already. So the scenario lets say comes to pass,…
I question it myself a bit but I think I will stick to my argument. Yes it is a small amount of weight, but from what I understand passenger cars contribute a lot (28%) to total greenhouse gas emissions. 290.8M cars on…
Haha yeah I wasn't quite sure from the response, so I just expanded on what I was saying before. I wonder if there is any examples of it being a good thing in any way shape or form.
Not sure what you're getting at, but the back seat example here has all the same issues I pointed out above. They actually would weigh even more than seat heaters. I only gave some examples above of why it's bad but…
Producing the extra weight of the seat heater requires extra fuel to burn. Now multiply that by the number of cars on the road. Will cost the customer a (small) amount extra in fuel costs for a part that is not being…
