An oceanside café on Salt Spring Island has a laminated poster on the fridge that lists factors impacting psychological health and safety at work. I bought the café in July 2020 and work as a software developer to earn a regular paycheque. At the end of our first year, the café won the resilient new business award, because we reopened mid-pandemic. I have become a better software developer by working with carpentry, plumbing, landscaping, and espresso. Bricks-and-mortar projects provide more immediate feedback about insufficient design and planning.
