Jase has done VERY little work on the new app as far as I know. Pretty much all new devs.
Pastebin has TONS of stuff lying around, it's pretty fascinating. I've always wanted to spend some time digging around there, but haven't gotten around to it.
This happened to me with a whole bunch of games, pretty much from around the first Modern Warfare up until somewhat recently. The reason was that I had great download and very solid upload, so it would set me as host in…
Just out of curiosity, how did you get around Apple forcing you to include their payment system in everything? It looks like you need to enter your CC info through the app itself, which Apple usually gets pretty pissy…
Yeah I think the advice about not going for your number 2 is really important. Of course that doesn't apply if you were dwelling on two people and ended up choosing one by a hair, but for the most part you didn't choose…
I don't think it's really an option at this point. The point the article is making is that you won't get stock android from anything but a phone sold to you by Google, and since the Nexus 4 isn't offered on Verizon,…
I agree, I don't think it's crazy to think of them selling this at a $200 price point. They've shown time and again that hardware is just a way for them to spread their software, and this is just an extension of that…
True enough, but I was REALLY looking forward to SW 1313, it looked magnificent. That's what I'm really upset about here.
Site says the person who wrote the post is from CA. In the US it's a bit more of a pain to deal with stuff like that. I would assume small claims court would be the way to go if they don't offer a refund, but I can't…
This is a really important point to make. Companies like these start out thinking that there is no way there will be a lot of users ordering small amounts, they'll all just order in bulk. They soon find out this isn't…
I get what they're trying to do, but the fact of the matter is that it's one person. Alexis is talking about this as though it's going to revolutionize the music industry, when in fact it really won't. It will certainly…
The other huge thing to note here is how few current users are jailbroken. The current jailbreak is a version behind the current OS, so the number of people running it is waaaay lower than it could be. If this was…
Those monsters. Have they no sense of the society they are spitting on. As you said though, this really is the perfect example of what's wrong with the patent system. There needs to be an overhaul of what can be…
I've been dealing with this for months, and tried to let people know the upgrade wasn't worth it. I figured if I kept some people from it I'd have done some good. Everyone shrugged me off. I can't even begin to tell you…
This is great run down of uber. Here in NYC, where cabs are much more common-place I still use uber from time to time. The thing is it's not meant to replace taxis, it's more of a luxury item than anything. When I can't…
No I think most people trust him, he's done a lot of great work in the past. I'm just wondering if he held on to an A5 exploit and it turned out to be identical on the A6 set. If that's the case then it could make for a…
I don't think street view is what made google that much better than maps. It's the search that works, and detailed maps, which were around from before street view. But I do think you're partially right on the apple…
I don't think that's their thinking actually. I think they knew it would be near impossible to have a product at launch be as impressive as googles and they're ok with that. However, by deploying in a mandatory setting…
Seriously this is a huge oversight. The only thing that comes to mind is that the web-app developers (understandably) didn't see the need to test on iOS 6 but I can't imagine there was absolutely no overlap.
Didn't stop people from doing the same general thing in regards to the iOS beta.
Having had the beta for so long I hadn't actually expected integration with maps, I figured it'd just tell you that there were other apps available. I'll definitely be moving to embark for the time being!
Not only that but we don't know how long the security hole has been there for. I've been running iOS 6 for months now, wouldn't be surprised if these guys did the same thing in preparation.
Well iOS 6 on the whole is pretty decent. It's maps that is a true train-wreck. That being said, it's not suprising that launching a brand new map service is going to be worse than the established one that's had years…
