Somebody has to pull the lever in the voting booth.
I had one of these! You had to load the terminal software from the included cassette tape, pick up the telephone, dial the digits (literally, we didn't have TouchTone), wait for the Bell 103 handshake tones, then…
Makes sense this event is in LA- this this is designed to be a mobile media creation device. Most users don't care about most of the features that are highlighted in the press release, but someone creating any sort of…
"Welcome to the 42nd anniversary of Michael Jordan's first NBA game, brought to you by Kalshi!"
The modern WDC 65C02 is also way faster (up to 14MHz in the right conditions) than other 6502s of the era (usually 1-2MHz).
Those smaller / cheaper EVs might not be street legal in the US due to safety regulations: they need to allow occupants to survive a crash vs the massive monster trucks on American roads.
The BeBox was so cool. I'm surprised no gaming-oriented PC builder has replicated the CPU activity LEDs. The GeekPort was also fun- in my dorm someone on my floor had a BeBox and used the GeekPort to control a robot…

Welp, looks like it's time to re-rip / re-tag my CD collection at higher quality. Gives me a good reason to dust off some stuff (physically and virtually) that I haven't listened to in a while.
I had a fair amount of shares of TDFX back in the day, rode it all the way to their bankruptcy. NVDA bought the scraps and left retail shareholders like me with nothing. In a different reality, if 3dfx could have…

I dug into the DNSSEC rabbit hole a few weeks ago and got drawn into the fascinating root key signing ceremony. https://www.iana.org/dnssec/ceremonies/62
I'm trying to make sense of all of this; I'm really curious if the initial prompt was as innocuous as it sounds ("solve a spreadsheet completion task that referenced several Google Drive links"), and what the series of…

On the hardware side, DEC built very-well engineered hardware. The early Alpha machines were very well designed. Even the PC compatible lines of the era were built to a very high quality standard.
VAX compatibility was very important to DEC- the Alpha has hardware to handle the non-IEEE VAX floating point formats.
Definitely. Internally, Oracle is very strict about the use of code written outside of Oracle- there is a very strict set of rules and procedures to incorporate open source libraries into their products and services. As…
Right now, the front page of CNN's web site in the US has as the primary headline "Third US service member killed as US ramps up strikes on Iran"[1]. The secondary headline has the names of two of them.[2] [1]…
The C64 had a good game library. While the C64 does have a cartridge and tape deck port, most games were sold on floppy disks. The C64 does not auto-boot disks, so when you turn on the power switch, you are immediately…
