Currently somewhere in Europe, employed as partly-remote software engineer. Main tech-related interests (in no particular order): virtual reality, 3d modeling & rendering, GIS, distributed computing, security & privacy, science fiction.
Not a lawyer and I had to translate from Dutch, but the first legal encounter involved the Privacy Commission looking for interim measures. Facebook first lost, then won the appeal. This is (sort of?) the same case, but…

I'm by no means an expert, but I'd say Belgium currently handles privacy in a reasonable manner that's definitely more privacy-friendly than the US. Like many countries we have a commission for the protection of privacy…
