I'm very curious if all this social distancing, hand washing and mask wearing on a global scale will have an effect on the next flu season. Could this be the first year with very little flu going around?
Isn't the problem right now not money, but lack of supply? The US gov is ready to pay for 500 mil respirators, but has nowhere to buy from.
Italians are using CPAP machines for serious (but not critical) cases.

No need to speculate. Bird Flu (H5N1) has 50% mortality, and it's like a flu in other aspects. It's only a few mutations away from human to human transmission.
