Actually it was Video Enhanced DIC (VEDIC) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanovid_microscopy?wprov=sfla1 It is apparently able to resolve colloidal gold particles 20-40nm in diameter.
Isn't Differential Interference Contrast able to resolve to 20nm or am I misremembering that?
