Can you cite these millions paid to execs at Mozilla?
Amazingly well stated. I lived this exact life as the task-lead a few years ago on one of my projects. I was told to keep the project running, but had no power on hiring, firing, performance reviews, or anything. The…
* Filing taxes if in the US. * CPR * Cooking a couple of meals
There's a new one of these every week. How is this one any better/different? Does it perform any better than a simple curl loop looking for the existence of a plugin? Or grep?
Performing a web request to 1M targets takes a long time. However, this is an [embarassingly parallel](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embarrassingly_parallel) problem, and renting out some machines would speed it up.
It'd be interesting to do all that you said (and more) and then determine what's the combined amount, as well as what % of sites do some sort of obfuscation... and why?
My issue with notion is that it doesn't support sharing PDFs/PPTs besides sharing the entire page. I'd like for it to backup my PDFs which is does onto AWS... but the links are gigantic (2k characters) and expire.
Free snacks is all fun until somebody ruins it by deciding they can take an exorbitant amount of them home.
Reproduced. The error page contains malware. Appears to be some sort of keylogger, but I didn't actually analyze it. https://gist.github.com/eugenekolo/81c1e7ff1c699cfbb584fdd6b...
Don't know what happened but the first time I clicked this link it brought me to unrendered HTML and obfuscated JS. Can't reproduce... but perhaps beware of malware.
I'm sorry, but how is your website worth $4000? It's a static Jekyll website. This website is 3 to 10 man hours of work. Are you seriously paying people $500/hr to `gem install jekyll` and pick a theme for you? Honest…
I recently set up pi-hole in a couple of hours on a raspberry pi I have at home. Works fairly well - it can't block as many things as ublock origin can, but it gets the job mostly done while still providing some sort of…
Is this interesting? The game's probably equally popular among the entire world population.
The photo for "There is a restaurant in Los Angeles called Brunch Near Me, presumably to trick Googlers." is showing Brooklyn, not Los Angeles. I don't know if this restaurant is in LA or in Brooklyn.…
Sarcastic? Not sure testimonials from the dev themselves mean anything.
Never thought about it like that, but you're right about it being a pretty decent package manager.
I've done similar setups. I highly recommend just using Cloudflare or Netlify instead. Unless you have an actual business reason, or love owning everything in the stack. The headache of managing this yourself adds up,…
I don't think it has anything to do w/ age. I believe that most people just see rules and laws as very firm, and unquestionable.
I reported these (and similar): https://www.amazon.com/Hiearcool-Canceling-Bluetooth-Headpho... a couple weeks ago. Got a support response telling me to look at verified reviews, and that basically they don't care and…
There's a difference between having strong opinions, and actually conspiring to have somebody elected. One is posting news, the other is creating news (see entire Facebook groups from Russia posting fake news). There is…
Disregarding the actual contents of the article: How is this article #1 on HN being up for 30min w/o any comments?
I have. And a whole onslaught of numerous other issues. Most of them seem to be documented in bugs 5+ years old that never get fixed. I was once a Virtualbox fan boy. But, I'm going with KVM and Vmware moving forward.
Interesting. Thanks for the tip.
Do you guys actually read this website at the default size? The sites much more enjoyable at 150%...
Oh, I always wanted to use 4gb of RAM to add files to Git.
