Is it possible or desirable to own two competing gaming platforms?
I feel like the way Asha talks about Xbox owning game studios could also be applied to Microsoft Xbox. Pc gaming and console gaming has never been closer. Is it advantageous to own two essentially competing platforms?…
No one needs Meta AI. They have missed the boat with chatbots / agents / harnesses like Claude Code. Can you picture anyone you know stopping using the AI services they currently use for an AI service provided by Meta?…
Are they SOTA? I’m not sure
For a period of time - then you go back to opus 4.8 or new sonnet 5.0 like some kind of AI pauper. Shine your shoes for some fable tokens g’vnor.
Ah man I remember playing Red Alert against my friends online where you had to put the other persons phone number in and (I guess??) you made some kind of direct network connection. No idea if it was billed as internet…
I think the issue matters (not us vs china) due to the investment and exposure normal people have to the valuations of the AI companies. It feels like the US govt could make this the pin that pops the bubble. If these…
Interesting to consider this inline with recent us export bans, could the US be squandering its lead by giving the open source, largely Chinese labs catch up (in terms of model quality available to masses), will US labs…
The country is a complete mess - cost of living has gone up massively, wages have gone up significantly slower, no increase in income tax bands mean any increase in wages are eaten by taxes, soon to be 7 prime ministers…
Modern stacking algo negate this entirely for amateur photographers
To get into Astrophotographg you probably need to spend £2-3k for some equipment, if you are based somewhere like the north of England this translates to a handful of clear nights per year. Sending your equipment here…
Maybe they could just like look at photos someone else has taken? If you are using someone else’s equipment, at a location you’ve never been too, it feels like you may as well just look at bubbles images of things.
Curser is the only possible play to make Grok AI some how useful to enterprise, where the vast majority of spend is / will be? Feels like it could only possibly worth this much to Musk. For me Anthropic are too far…
I feel like you are missing the difference between cash out the door and the market cap value of a business. One is a real tangible thing, the other is a function of the stock market. I don’t think google would spend…
Sustainable business models that need insano numbers of funding rounds? We don’t actually know if their business model is sustainable. If they were public we would have a better answer to this.
And where does TMSC go for the machines it uses to produce these chips?
Opportunistic url and vibe coded copy? The site looks quite good though, just reads super AI generated!
How do they justify developing and selling this? Like how do they justify the internal cost of moving people from core businesses to do this.
Where does it end, I don’t see people using AI less as time moves on. I’ve not seen a cohesive statement on what the world looks like when LLMs can do work perfectly (which on a long enough timeline is coming). Do…
I don’t know what you are saying here? That a program running on a GPU in a data center is alive because it can predict what words to say next? I find it strange that people are quite often unwilling to see animals as…
It probably is, but the difference is that the signals are happening in a persons and not a gpu.
I feel like it’s quite straightforward - if it’s a living breathing thing it can be conscious, if it is a set of man made mathamatical models that can be switched of, it can be intelligent, but not conscious.
LLMs are word prediction engines. They clearly are not conscious, they are just guessing what words should come next.
Clearly no Scottish people with oversite on naming! Loads of wee jobbies flying around!
The only thing I’d push back on is the weird and wacky iPad apps - our brains and fingers need some consistency in UI, doesn’t mean it can be fun though!
