Are you sure that’s vim rather than Melvin. Never had any issues with anything breaking on an upgrade using vim.
Like any of this kind of advice, I think there are 2 ways of doing it: robotically and mindfully. If the latter is done, then I think it may have some use. If the former, then it's similar to the argument of listening…
Just have to say I loved my Amigas back in the day. First an A500 and then a dual floppy 1500. Never quite recaptured that feeling with Linux.
