I thought Go was initially a filler project to keep the new hires going with some busy work, but they were too afraid to tell them, and released it. Hence the missing generics.
Tried that but the problem was it then started writing binary logs, wanted to own the system and reported the system needed to install more systemD components. Like a kernel and userland. Quite scary!
Heh - I initially thought from the title it would be about Google's constant shuttering of their services once people had discovered them and started using them...
