There are already alternative shells. I think there’s some stuff fairly deeply rooted into gnu that’s an ‘issue’ for rebuilding and turns an effort into a complete redesign, making the whole thing hard to achieve.
Shells imo are legacy on legacy, I like bash and zsh, they’re nonsensical but they work. Powershell is undoubtedly saner, but I hate it. I think the whole concept could be rewritten from the ground up to be modern, but…
If the keys are derived on demand and you have remote shell, you can derive them. If they’re salted with the users password, then it becomes impossible to decrypt them without the user being present which is problematic…

Why not? Public transport follows static routes, but there’s nothing to stop personalised routes based on whose on the public transport, especially while off peak.
