Is the goal here to make money? Engineer #25 will get at most .3% equity. At a billion dollar valuation that's 3 million, which sounds like a lot, but if you see that exit after 5 years, that's more like 600k a year.…
Thanks for the nuance. I completely agree with how you've framed the situation.
The article is simply wrong. I know this because I worked as an ML engineer at an extremely successful company that automated medical coding using deep learning. The confusion stems from conflating a "perfect solution"…

Become a machine learning swe. It's an amazing blend of stats / match and raw engineering. It's a ton of fun
The phrase "in practice" doesn't really work when you're referring to highly finicky strategies like RL and adversarial training
I don't have a nuanced thought to add. I think it sucks these videos were demonetized and I agree there's something weird going on when 3d bust test prints abound. Sorry you have to fit so hard to get people on the same…

I don't think that's true. As a consumer I pay Uber, that internally splits its revenue between unionized and non unionized labor. Both parties want money, and the both charge me for it.

Agreed. Robots are very hard, and Boston Dynamics has been around for almost 40 years and still isn't anywhere close to making a lot of money. Apps have added a lot more value to my life than BD ever has. Fwiw I…
Was looking at buying the quest 2 today and decided to wait until the weekend to see how the launch would go and then I saw this. I won't buy a quest 2 unless the account requirement is removed
But most people are capped to how much they'll spend on leisure by their vacation time. So there probably isn't much headroom to be gained for people who are regular travellers post this pandemic.
Does the use of positional embeddings mess with the gnn for formulation? I'm not familiar with the requirements for something to be a gnn, but positional embeddings mean the graphs have to capture order of occurrence,…
That isn't true. Downtown Toronto has multiple Google engineers. I know one in brain and one in cloud. One has been in TO for ~2.5 years, the other for 1 year. As far as I know the only way to get into the office is by…
Google can preview results for clicks by exposing a site's content in the search results. E.g if you google Obama you will see a wiki blurb about him on the right
I took this quote to mean the following: Engineers are well equipped and positioned to understand the set of solutions that are available to them and the material negative impacts of those solutions (e.g if we build a…
