i don't get what the eff windows has to do with X server crashes taking down X apps? "Windows does it too" IS NOT an acceptable solution.

max is useless in benchmarking; there's no upper limit on how long any computation can take.
i imagine your questions would be great for a hypothetical final exam at an established law school...
