Interesting I may have been comparing parallel bzip2 with single threaded xz or perhaps it was just the data I was using for a test. I'll have to look at it again, thanks!
Is xz less resource intensive then bzip2? My testing (admittedly two years ago or so) showed significant differences, better compression ratio with xz but significantly longer and/or more memory used.
Why do you think you automatically lose a case with cheap lawyers? If you are bringing a weak case against someone, then perhaps using high priced lawyers will be able to bully them into submission, but if the facts are…
I don't think general PPP and GDP comparisons really make sense on the specific scale offered there. The cost of living in the Bay area and NYC are much much higher then the cost of living in say Alabama. I wouldn't be…
I don't think that's really irony...how is that worse then some obscure file in some obscure server somewhere? Or some obscure block of memory in some obscure cloud somewhere?
Have you ever used FreeBSD jails? I wish there was something as easy to use and flexible as that on Linux. The fact that each jail has minimal overhead and with dedupe on ZFS I can easily give every user their own…
