Don't listen to the reviews here. My MBP 15" (late-2016) is fine. I get all day battery life too. You can return it Jan 8th if it doesn't work for you. Hearing complaints from people who never used it is tiring.
I know it's popular on HN and Reddit to bash the MBP, but could be just me.. I love my new 2016 MBP 15". Haven't experienced any issues with battery life. Use it to program on and have been very satisfied with it.
I plan to enter a PhD program in 1-2 years to specialize in ML/Deep Learning. Assuming it'll take 5-6 years to complete my degree how applicable should my skill sets be in industry at that point?
