As a backend developer, I am hopelessly grateful for docker and containerization in general. The old days with stateful application servers were AWFUL.
If going away from jpeg will 20x our hosting costs, it will be difficult to ever switch from jpeg.
Not really. It would be very simple for one of these parties to just not use symbols of old hate, or avoid spending hundreds of millions of dollars to remove crucial aid for millions of people. These are active choices.
the main thing with jpeg is adding 10bit would be a breaking change anyway, and storage space on phones gets you 30-40% more photos on the same storage if you change formats.
One of these people use their money to spread hate and promote themselves, the other does not.
1. How long does size, encode time and resize take compared to good old jpeg? 2. Is it possible to encode AVIF with hardware acceleration?
As an aside: I tried using claude to write GTK4 applications in december 2025/january 2026 and it was awful at it, barely even helpful. Then in September it's writing great gtk4 apps with barely any prompting.
e16/e17 was a lot of fun, and it was fast.
Ideally, at least the board would do time and lose any rights holding such positions for a long time.

i have used linux for 20 years now. I'm actually so happy we get good working drivers mere weeks after new hardware launch.
I bought a 9070 xt shortly after launch and it was already fine, but I am on arch so had easy access to latest kernel.
