It would remove the live execution bits which are kinda neet. I think the cli has a lot of life left in it and ideas like this are worth exploring. Perhaps compromises are necessary but I would love a tool that pretends…
Sure; it wouldn’t be perfect safety but would work for a large swath of Unix tools.
What about using LD_PRELOAD to load a FS shim that prevents writing to the FS?
I think its pretty awesome, Reminds me of Chris Oliver's F3 before Sun ruined it with XML (JavaFX). F3 had awesome demos and was a joy to write - http://lambda-the-ultimate.org/node/1998
