This is more of a business calculation (e.g. it's cheaper to keep the supply chain running & park the planes than it is to shut the supply chain down & then start it back up).
Gitlab, a lot of there stuff is super well documented because of their remote culture.
Like others mentioning here, for me it was just a change in company. Work on impactful projects, demonstrate that you know how to learn & work hard, and deliver results -- the rest will come with it.
This reminds me of Trakt.tv and the API it makes available to other apps like Serist (iOS) and TV Series (Android). I find a lot of value out of this setup.
