I found the comic very ammussing and insightful, likewise for some of the thread. But I am impressed at how well I delude myself into thinking that this was, at all, time well spent.

Unrelated, but why do people prefer to assume gender over just using gender-neutral pronouns? Not a native English speaker but I've seen this a lot, especially on HN even when there's no indication of subject's gender…
