Python doesn’t really compile to *.pyc. These are just parsed tokens and AST, really not proper machine code.
Where you using standard optimized libraries (e.g., NumPy for numerical computation) or did you do everything in Python? This kind of increase of speed seems to indicate extremely sloppy Python programming.
Aren’t you confusing internals and API? I don’t think nobody cares about HOW the optimisation is done, but SC wanted API with the rest of the interpreter be defined and stable. Two different things. I think.
