Man you got took. It happens. My father once bought a TV on the street in the Bronx and the box just had a couple of bricks. He didn't go around asking strangers to help get his money back. You gave money to a child for…
It's very immoral to benefit from the utilities, roads, emergency services, etc provided for by tax money and work very hard to not contribute. Think starting a business is hard? Try starting a business without any…
I like the idea. I solved the same problem with Jenkins. We already had it setup for CI and CD. We then added a view and jobs for scheduled tasks. Removing crons from servers is huge. Now I can see what's failing,…
Stop working for an hour and go for a walk. Repeat 2-3 times a week and you'll get some color + light exercise.

Why not setup a local lab that mimics the environment as closely as possible and abstract all work with Fabric, Salt or something similar? Then you just ship the code you wrote and have then run through the command(s)…
I'm sure it was initially created for that purpose however as soon as demand tapers off they'll being to seek new customers.
There's a lot of questioning about why someone would do this. Why can't someone just write for fun? Does everything now have to be "disruptive" and commercially viable?
"Why do we convince our selves that these types of drastic measures are worth the capital we expend to make them happen." My cynical guess? Wealthy people with liberal guilt. As for the companies, more eyeballs == more…
I'm not sure it's marketing but being in the bubble like was previously mentioned. Apple has nearly 100% market share with fellow engineers at work. Sometimes I forget PCs exist until I'm forced to use one (internet…
I think that's the point. If you only expect to make 500K* from album sales, it makes sense to sell a single copy for 500K to a wealthy fan and let the content leak out to other fans. Same pay, less work and more happy…
Corporate policy :( I really wanted to try this out but I'm stuck on 10.8

Perhaps it's a form of copy protection but IMO, without it being digital, DRM isn't possible. I did purchase this book because the last version has so many good reviews and I too would have preferred a digital copy but…
It just seems like a personal complaint on your part. You seem to feel cheated. That's fine, I'd feel the same way. But to say it's DRM when the content isn't even digital smells like bait. It's clearly a form of copy…
It seems like you're just frustrated that you can't get the new version for free or at a drastically reduced price. That's not related to DRM at all. You have the rights to re-sell your first edition or trade it freely.…
My lightweight experience is a little different. I didn't want to run a VM on my MacBook Air and I already run VMs locally on my Mac Mini so an alias to the Ubuntu VM on my mini lets me run the Docker client without…
It was H&R Block until tonight. I started my 2013 filing in H&R but hadn't submitted. I stumbled on this post and saw all the votes for TurboTax and re-entered my info into TurboTax and it saved me 5K. Even the UI and…
I am doing the same thing right now. I had a lot of trouble billing. I'm just horrible at recording everything. Now I have something like a retainer. The idea being that I get paid X dollars per month that includes 15…
