No, "we" really do not love significant whitespace.
In 15 years of coding javascript I've never had a significant problem with == vs ===. If anything using === got me into more trouble than using ==, but it really depends on coding style and making other mistakes that…
what a shame you chose to do this in Coffeescript. Would have looked much more beautiful if written in JavaScript.
I agree. Also they aren't using 1TBS for the code examples, and that will naturally lead to noob javascript programmers running into trouble when they inevitably type return { hello:"world" } using 1TBS will naturally…
It still does nothing to support the millions of IE6, 7 & 8 users, and VML has been around since IE5.x - it's really not much different than SVG either. Seeing a vector library these days that doesn't support VML is…
what a bubble they've become.
"industry dream-boat Paul Irish" is where I stopped reading. eww. he doesn't even know how setTimeout works.
I doubt it matters that you did this in CoffeeScript at all. so what.
1:1? This is so much bullshit i don't even know where to start.
I've never once run into a 'forgot a semicolon' problem in 15 years of programming javacsript. semicolons are optional, and if you are fretting over a misplaced semicolon, you are doing it wrong. What really is a pain…
"CoffeeScript: The beautiful way to write JavaScript" is a fucking ridiculous thing to say. I'll counter that with Coffeescript is an ugly way to write javascript. Go ahead and say I'm wrong. Beauty is in the eye of the…
No, you aren't trying to "improve JS semantics", you are trying to 'Rubyify' Javascript. You've created a language that is NOT javascript. Sorry, but no matter how hard you try to sell it as === javascript, it still…
I write javascript and I don't feel 'dead inside'. I love writing javascript, and I code all day every day. Just because you hate it doesn't mean it's bad.
I agree with everything you are saying. Coffeescript really is for people who prefer a ruby/python syntax, and who just don't like javascript's syntax. BEATUY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER people! Just because you find…
I don't agree with your opinion at all. Your claim that coffeescript is somehow 'better' than javascript is just false. You prefer one syntax, fine, but don't assume that it is somehow 'better'. I prefer Javascript. I…
