This is a fantastic new feature. I would also love a version of ‘pick’ that works on streaming data, since that doesn’t seem to be possible currently without reassembling the stream first
the python yq is by far my preferred utility. i love native jq and the fact it simply wraps it means every thing just works, which is not the experience i’ve had with the tool mentioned in the topic
I think this may be the key point, at least for what was befuddling me. Looking at the right side of the castle, the old image has a clear sense of depth while the upscaled version doesn’t
I’m not sure what it is, but except for the spaceship image, the upscaled images look… flatter? I don’t have any attachment to these games (or pixel games in general), so it’s not a nostalgia thing, but I also can’t…
> The problem is at this point I have been on the team too long to ask any basic questions, I believe very much that there are no basic questions that are too basic to ask if you don’t know the answer. As an experienced…
I would also really like some sort idea of just how easy or hard a material is to get odor out of. For a while now now I’ve just had to have multiple backpacks and rotate through them when one becomes too fragrant. If…
It’s rather straight forward: You first get in touch with Razor and Blade, you can find them DJing at the local night club, and they make a series of calls and the hackers of the world unite around them. This was…
First things first, I think it’s important to recognize that this book may not be for everyone. I was recommended and read Blood Meridian a while ago without having any prior knowledge of it, and I now rank it as one of…
Agreed. To go a little further: the main point of the paper is that there is a subtlety with how black hole outflow can effect the neighborhood: 1. the outflow is so energetic that it blows the gas clouds away and shuts…
IANAS but: You were there up until the end. The gas jets aren’t forming stars near the black hole nor are the stars formed using material from around it. Instead, they are sending out the equivalent of pilot lights that…
If your tech can do that, I wonder if it may be more efficient to just throw neutron stars around to disrupt star formation
After I posted I was thinking and came up with “Black Hole Exhaust (Can) Breathe Life Into New Star Formation,” but I also like yours
The title here: > “Black Hole Gives Birth to New Stars Rather Than Devouring Them” is misleading. The black hole is still devouring matter, in fact it must have been to cause the outflow that triggered star formation in…
I can simplify this entire thread for you. Everyone who has struggled with this says "see a specialist, get diagnosed, take action". That action can be a range of things, but first and foremost, talk to a specialist.
Good to hear. When you talk to the counselor, they may give you some ideas on coping strategies - making lists, using calendars to remember all your appointments, etc. You most likely do them already to have gotten this…
As in all things, it's not so much of a "yes/no" diagnosis, but a spectrum. But the range they can give you in the spectra (ADD/ADHD) seem to be pretty tight. From my experience, they asked me about past behaviour,…
As I said, it's good advice. But the waters here are much more murky than that. That approach alone won't work for everyone, that's the only point I wanted to make.
I'll grant you that for the most part that's true, but for someone that actually has attention or hyperactivity disorders, telling them to "train the mind to be more focused" is equivalent to telling a depressed person…
I went through this myself a couple of years ago. I had managed to make it all the way through school but once I entered professional life, I realized that people actually had conversations that I couldn't keep focused…
