It has to do with the FDA banning the import of confectionery with '...a non-nutritive object, partially or totally imbedded within it.' The FDA reasons that it may pose a potential choking hazard.
So /that's/ what they were for. Thanks!
I understand that they're doing string comparisons (of a kind), but what are those values defined in 'uint32_t'? Is it a translation of values into memory addresses?
FT has this incredibly aggravating policy of forcing registration on mobile devices. If you're on a mobile device, request the desktop version of the site, and you should be able to view the content.
Great slides Zach! Also, is there any audio of the presentation?
It's good that Linode is taking security seriously, but the pessimist in me wonders; if all it takes to get a password reset site-wide is an attack on a single user, wouldn't that open up a whole new, rather aggravating…
IMO, there seems to be something missing from these points. I personally am more pessimistic, and don't believe people will join a startup community unless there are incentives to actually do so. Incentives like…
I find it silly to say they've solved the crowdfunding problem when all they've really done is close off a majority of the crowd, and limited actual investment to a select few people who can actually meet their bar.…
>The biggest reason why non-developers would join is because of no ads. IMO, the people who care about ads on social networking have Adblock+ installed. I would even go so far as to throw this (very probably…

Well that's weird. I tried giving the demo a Photoshop CS5 file and it doesn't like that. I thought maybe it was a parsing problem, since I remember there being something about the latest Photoshops doing something to…
Hilarious! This reminds me of a StackOverflow question which asked the users for the weirdest language quirks they could think of. I laughed pretty hard at that too.
I hope that the appeal _does_ go through. This is a dangerous precedent for our legal system to be setting. I do not like the idea that US law can be applied to me here in the UK despite having no business in the US…
Yes it does. But programming is one of those nice fields where you can usually pick up the pieces and relearn things pretty quickly if doors happen to close on you.
10AM over in Norwich. I wonder if this poll can survive until the end of the US day, though, since at the moment they're all asleep.
I am surprised the internet took this long to respond, considering that the HN discussion on this was started almost a week ago[1][2]. That said, after watching the video I'm all kinds of sceptical about the dude's…
Good lord, you really do learn something new every day with linux. Thanks!
Is it me, or do a lot of the 'statement' links not seem to load?
I think you mean billion, not million.
Oh damn, as someone who's looking at placements for next year, what you're offering is a godsend.
