I'd observe that there are professional gamblers, and there are amateur gamblers. If you know what you're doing, know how to spec a problem space, and can manage the tool competently enough to churn out good results,…
It's annoying that they class themselves as "Involuntary" Celibates, because as far as I can tell the "in" part of "Involuntary" is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Volcels is way more accurate.
I do (also sometimes) use Emacs on Windows, but I must admit I have little experience of the issues surrounding Japanese textual input (I've not checked but I would have automaticaly assumed "there's an Emacs mode for…
Pretty much yes. Emacs is basically a Lisp execution environment with a customisable text-editor included.
With respect, you should learn Lisp - it will allow you to turn Emacs into whatever you want. In my opinion just keeping the Emacs keybindings but dropping all the other advantages of Emacs is missing the point…
I've got to admit to being somewhat disappointed that the "wolf" in question wasn't the character from the film 'Pulp Fiction', because - at least in my mind - it's an apt example for Rand's original article.
I've not had time to explore fully, but I just cracked open emacs on this windwoes machine, and tried it, and it auto-added a comma to the beginning of a nested #+BEGIN_SRC...
#+BEGIN_SRC lolcode blah #+END_SRC org-mode to the rescue ;p

right - same here WRT windows partition. Not always using Live, but it gets used when it's necessary. I'm slightly disappointed that they haven't done the decent thing and released a Linux version, but .. ah well, what…
Thanks! I wasn't aware of the JUCE newer version issue.. I'll have to (sometime) dig into that a bit deeper. Me I don't mind the idea of the smaller-scale alternatives, but having to occasionally work withothers that…
thanks!
I have been 'enjoying' this with Debian on a PC with a 1080Ti nvidia card, which is no longer supported by the nvidia v590 + drivers. I've had to pin to v580, but the whole "oops, I updated, rebooted and 'look ma, no…
Yeah, these days the Scarletts are fine (as is the aging Firewire connected Edirol FA-101 I've got attached). Non-DAW things such as Supercollider work fine, but I focus less on that sort of environment (which isn't a…
Gaming is all well and good, but I'd be interested to hear of experiences with moving and using Audio apps (Ableton Live, Cubase and other Steinberg apps, plus many VSTs) from Windows to Linux. I see Wine, YABridge and…
Unless you're red/green colour-blind, of course ;)
Emacs user here, and the whole "electric-mode" stuff (for matching parens or other balanced pairs of things) I find really quite useful. And closing a pair is usually something like shift+enter, which is quite simple…
It does, you are right. Apparently I am going blind :(
Last update to this site appears to be circa 2019 :/
During Covid, my son (who is deaf and attends a deaf school) has issued masks with transparent windows at the front, especially for assisting with lip-reading for deaf users. This is in Switzerland though - I don't know…
Being late to the party is the story of my life, but fwiw, I was aware that FORTH was used a lot in this kind of use-case ;)
I think it was, actually, yes. Thanks for the reminder!
An understandable reaction, and one I can claim to feel myself in similar salesdroid situations, however they have an explanatory sheet which reiterates the claim:…
