CIG had stopped implementing new CryEngine changes at 3.7. So they just had to include the changes from 3.7 to 3.8(where Lumberyard forked). They said it took 3 engineers one weekend of work, using a diffchecker.
They haven't changed engines. Lumberyard is just a fork of CryEngine 3.8

This is false. CIG has promised that every single dollar backed to the game before retail release will go into development of the game, server costs, and post development updates.
You don't build a mansion on the foundation of a shack. That's not how it works. Elite:Dangerous is exemplifying this right now.
AAA refers to production quality of a game. The quality of what we're seeing is already AAA.
Why would you think Linux support would be something they would prioritize for a game that's not even finished yet? That stuff comes at the end of the development, not the middle.
