The output side is just as lopsided. Google alone was at ~3.2 quadrillion tokens/month in May: roughly 79T words a day at 0.75 words/token, against ~100T words/day humans produce.
Not surprised it reached books. In Graphite's Common Crawl sample, ~50% of new web articles have been mostly AI-written since late 2024, and still ~50% as of May 2026. The odd part is the plateau. Chart: aiwords.si
