That is incredibly awesome and noble of them. That does not mean it becomes the benchmark for everybody.
There is development joy found in both, but Elixir and the underlying erlang definitely has it's own idioms. You can know enough to get going quickly, but there's a healthy layer of power that will only come with time.
Strong disagree. Elixir has been my primary language since 2016 because it makes concurrency so easy. I'm also a little confused how it's not functional enough for you.
They touched on such ideas in Nic Cage's movie 'Pig'. It was a surprisingly decent flick.
A school teacher might explain it to be "The Frickin Article".
Sounds a lot like erlang. Elixir has been my daily driver since 2016; still loving it.
All of my comments have focused on how Apple is not above promotion by default. My use of the word 'hunting' was very casual and completely secondary.
I would take the over on 50% of people seeing it. Apple sends notifications for those news stories on your Today screen ;)
I agree, removing it was easy enough. My contention is that Apple is not above using your screen real estate for promotion by default.
OK, but it's still an attention grab that's there by default?
English is not a foreign language in Canada. The rest of Canada goes to great lengths to provide bilingual support. It's awful to see English being systematically demonized in Canada.
I'm not sure Apple deserves that much benefit of the doubt. I've found myself hunting through iOS settings to hide News on that slide screen to the left. It was definitely put there by Apple and I'm confident they were…
Would love to have you take a look but I couldn't find any contact info for you. I've been nudging test users towards my Discord server for ongoing support. Consider this an open invite to anybody (for now); I'll…

I've been building my own thing for a while. It blends the hierarchical navigation of Workflowy (to figure out your priorities) with task management and routine building. Throughout this process, I discovered a whole…
From where I'm standing, it sure looks like buying off both sides is a pretty easy/predictable way to protect the status quo.
A decision came down in January to drop ongoing support. This included removing previously working functionality. Here was a discussion from January: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25589177
Web push notifications would only apply to PWA's, which you have to deliberately install by seeking out the add to home screen menu item. They are not the nuisance you are making them out to be.
Can you appreciate how a memory challenged/privacy conscious person might find it helpful to opt in to web push notifications?
So true. I have this uneasy reliance on Chrome for supporting PWA's properly since Mozilla lost interest. It's a life/routine manager for people with horrible memories. Chrome stands alone in supporting web push…
Some languages definitely benefit from portable environments, others don't really need it. My anecdata is that horsing around with Docker was still needed and when things went wrong, they went REALLY wrong. As with all…
My concern is that they're aware of this and have paid plenty of attention to encouraging a docile population. Yes, I'm about to resume scrolling through my phone.
For me, it's less about having things I need to say and more about endlessly analyzing what I'm about to say. There is little, if any, forgiveness for the well-intentioned mistakes.
That is a fascinating insight to me. (the temporary social media thing) Does such a thing exist? I'm sitting here fighting urges to build a prototype.
