Definitely gatekeeping. I'm no wiz by any means, but I've done (and still do) a fair amount of paid work (gigs, studio recordings, teaching, etc.) and I would not describe Grade 5 ABRSM as "very basic"
This is only true for C-style languages? Flix uses square brackets, as does Effekt, and Nim, as well as Python. Probably many more I'm missing. Gleam even uses normal parens.

I was wondering the same thing. It's backbreaking work, man. I started in kitchens after I got jaded writing software, but in comparison, getting jaded from f&b took no time at all
I think the docs haven't been updated - there was a commit made 3 weeks ago where they replace SHA3 with bcrypt
