Just to follow up, even getting a bank account with no credit history can be a problem. I had excellent credit in the UK, but got turned down by about 4/5 banks before I was allowed to open an account here.
The part that bothers me most is the box shadow increasing when you click a button. It's the exact opposite of what is intuitive.
