It's an interesting article, and the story behind it is viable (the NSA would certainly be able to identify Satoshi with all the info they hold). However, the complete vagueness of the article and the lack of verifiable details proving Satoshi's identity for those aren't part of the NSA means I'm at least a little skeptical of this article.

Anyone can say they have a friend in the NSA who knows about an effort like this, and anyone can write an article on Medium. You can't verify it either way, sort of like how you can't fact check the kid at school who claimed his uncle worked at Nintendo.

So while I'll stay optimistic and assume he's telling the truth for now, I'll also hedge my bets and say it's equally possible he's just lying through his teeth. We just cannot know for the moment.

If he's an American, he has either paid the IRS a lot of money - in which case he's not really anonymous and this textual analysis is academic - or he owes the IRS a lot of money. There are definitely laws about not paying that money back.

Why does he owe money to the IRS when he has not touched his coins?
