Ask HN: What chance (if any) do I stand of landing a job with H1-B sponsorship?
The summary:
- British national - Around 10 years programming experience, 3 in a senior dev capacity. - No degree - Consider myself very competent and capable of being productive very quickly in many web stacks. Lately done a lot of react, node, go and PHP (symfony).
But here's the thing. I'm by no means "outstanding". I'm not some rockstar giving talks at conferences 5 times a year and a blog with hundreds of thousands of views.
Is it enough to be a "regular" developer, albeit an incredibly productive and capable one? Or is the lack of a degree a blocker?
