The best way to prevent someone else from deleting your data is to own it. For anyone looking for alternatives to Google Anayltics, here are a few self-hosted options:

Matomo, open core with a broad feature set: https://matomo.org

Countly, open core with web and mobile tracking: https://count.ly

Plausible, open source with a simple feature set: https://plausible.io

For my personal life and businesses, I use and pay for multiple Google services (Workspaces, Cloud, YouTube, Nest Aware) simply because I like them and very much benefit from them.

Yet, one thing terrifies me.. That one day, for some odd reason, Google blocks my access or even deletes my data. And that terror is not coming from delusion, but from many stories like this one that we see here and there, every now and then.

There should be a name for this "service anxiety". It's real.
For this very same reason I closed all my Google service accounts. Sure, I miss gmail but to be honest, having zero anxiety regarding these topics is worth the price.
The thing is, all of these do provide me with a lot of value and convenience. Many of such services are known by most people I hire and work with, so it's just the anxiety that's ruining the party...

And I never know how irrational it is...

Just call tech support, they’re easy to reach and very helpful.
That makes no sense. I typically go for years without logging into my Google Analytics account. There's gotta be some missing context here.
It sounds like the account was deleted for a different reason, but they couldn't prevent/restore it because they didn't react within 30 days.
He should feel fortunate that Google only deleted his Google analytics account not whole google/gmail account associated with it. There are countless horror stories like those as well on internet.
I can one-up that. Entire Google Workspace domain.

Google sent emails direct to spam, and then wiped the whole thing. All data. All accounts. Everything.

I on the other hand haven’t logged in for a year and Google is still trying to get me to spend more on ads.
And no doubt the only way to fix it is to make a racket on social media.
