I went to CCSF off and on for about 20 years. I decided I wanted to study drama when I was fresh out of high school, so I must have seen this mural in the lobby of the theater several times a year. It’s absolutely gorgeous and I’m glad it will have a home where it can be seen by a much larger audience.
If you're a fan of Diego Rivera you really should visit the Detroit Institute of Arts. He spent nine months there painting the Detroit industry murals which he considered his greatest work.
I think like every artistic movement Diego was one of the most influential characters around mexican muralism, however, I think there are names like José Clemente Orozco that IMHO is way more impressive than Rivera, but of course media and other factors always play a big role around arts.
